2 Poems Forthcoming in THE RUTHERFORD RED WHEELBARROW 3!

Just sharing some good news!  Two of my sonnets, "My Love for Will" and "Track Marks," have been chosen for publication in the forthcoming The Rutherford Red Wheelbarrow 3, which will be launched on Wednesday, Sept. 1 at the Williams Center for the Arts in Rutherford, New Jersey.

Here is "Track Marks" with a self-portrait by Leonardo Da Vinci -- his words inspired the poem:

circa 1512 to 1515.

TRACK MARKS
For Leonardo Da Vinci, who said "After forty years, a man is responsible for his face."

...a man is responsible for his face.
And way beyond the razor nicks—
Each laugh and worry leave their trace,

Brow, raised-and-furrowed till inscribed.
The broken nose you would not fix.
The shots of alcohol imbibed.

A life’s indulgence, doubling chin,
Rounds out the once slim oval bisque.
Sun’s worship flecks translucent skin.

And pleasure’s crows? Their footprints race.
Life’s little torments, we self-inflict,
Write lines, time nor artist can erase,

Tattle tales of just where and how we’ve been—
Track marks of escapades expose each sin.
